01How you opt in

You are only texted if you asked to be. There are three ways that happens, and all three require you to say yes:

  • Ticking the consent box on our online booking form. It starts unticked, and your booking goes through whether or not you tick it.
  • Ticking the same box when you sign the liability waiver.
  • Telling us on the phone that you’d like text updates, in which case we record it against your booking.

The exact wording you agree to is:

I agree to receive text messages from Travis Wake Charters LLC about my booking, including confirmations, reminders, marina arrival instructions, weather updates, schedule changes, and customer support. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Consent to receive texts is never a condition of booking anything. Leave the box unticked and we’ll email and call you instead — you lose nothing.

02What we send, and what we don't

These are transactional messages about a trip you have booked or asked about. In practice that means:

  • “Your Saturday 2pm charter is confirmed.”
  • “Reminder: arrive 15 minutes early. Ramp is Cypress Creek Park.”
  • “Lightning in the area — the captain is holding your 2pm. We’ll call in 20 minutes.”
  • An answer to a question you texted us.

We do not sell, rent or share your phone number with anyone for their own marketing, and we do not send you other companies’ messages. See the Privacy Policy.

03Stopping, and starting again

Reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE or QUIT to any message. We’ll send one confirmation that you’ve been unsubscribed, and after that you will not receive any further texts from this number.

Changed your mind? Reply START, or just tell us on the phone.

Opting out of texts does not cancel your trip and does not stop your booking confirmation email. If you want to cancel a trip, see the cancellation policy — a text saying STOP is not a cancellation.

05Carriers, delivery and devices

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed — so we never rely on a text alone for anything that matters. If your trip is cancelled or moved, you will also get an email, and for anything urgent on the day the captain will call you.

Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile, Cricket and others.

06Your data

We keep your number, the date you agreed to be texted, and the exact wording you agreed to. We keep the messages we send you so that we can answer “what did you tell me?” if it ever comes up. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
